Glossary
Short definitions of the terms used across this site, in plain language.
- ad governance
- Ad governance is operating ad accounts under controls: request quotas, an audit trail, and changes made only under a plan a person has approved.
- AEO
- AEO (answer engine optimization) is writing and structuring content so search engines and AI assistants can lift a short, self-contained answer to a question directly from the page.
- Agentic ERP
- An agentic ERP is an ERP with AI agents that read its data, show what is missing and run routine work; what changes the books is approved by a person or validated against the previous system first.
- agentic system
- An agentic system is a set of software and AI agents that carries out routine operations on its own and calls a person only when something falls outside what is expected.
- AI agent
- An AI agent is software that uses a language model to pursue a goal by calling tools, such as searching a catalog or creating an order, within limits set by its builders.
- attribution
- Attribution is assigning a sale or lead to the channel that produced it. Each ad platform attributes by its own rules, so the figures rarely match the real orders.
- catalog mode
- Catalog mode is an automatic store behavior: when a product's price is zero, the site hides the price and the cart and shows a WhatsApp button with the product pre-filled.
- conversation mining
- Conversation mining is classifying a company's past chats to find what customers ask, where sales are lost and which facts are reliable enough for an agent to use.
- conversation simulation
- A conversation simulation runs scripted customer scenarios against an AI agent before each release, to catch wrong answers, invented data and broken rules before real customers see them.
- dry run
- A dry run is a rehearsal of an operation that shows what would change without changing anything. Mutating tools run in dry run by default and apply changes only when told explicitly.
- Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)
- A forward deployed engineer (FDE) is a software engineer who works inside a customer's own systems and data to build and run solutions in production, instead of advising from outside.
- GEO
- GEO (generative engine optimization) is the practice of structuring a website so AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Claude can understand, trust and cite it in their answers.
- graceful degradation
- Graceful degradation is designing a system so that when a part fails, it keeps working in a reduced but honest way and raises an alert instead of failing silently.
- headless e-commerce
- Headless e-commerce separates the shopping backend (catalog, cart, checkout) from the storefront, so the storefront can be built as a fast, lightweight site that reads the backend's data.
- hreflang
- Hreflang is an annotation that tells search engines which language and region each version of a page targets, and where its alternate-language versions are.
- human handoff
- A human handoff is the moment an AI agent stops answering and passes a conversation to a person, because the customer asked, or the agent lacks data or authority.
- human in the loop
- Human in the loop is a design in which an automated system proposes or prepares an action and a person approves it before it affects money, records or customers.
- IndexNow
- IndexNow is an open protocol that lets a site notify participating search engines, such as Bing, that URLs were added, changed or removed, instead of waiting to be crawled.
- LLM judge
- An LLM judge is a language model used to grade another model's answers. Because judges can overstate problems, KINTO uses a different model as judge and verifies findings by hand.
- llms.txt
- llms.txt is a plain-text file at the root of a website that gives language models a curated index of its most important pages, with one short description per link.
- lossless URL migration
- A lossless URL migration moves a site to a new platform keeping the same paths where possible and 301-redirecting the rest, so search rankings and inbound links are not lost.
- order reconciliation
- Order reconciliation is matching each real order to its true source, such as an ad channel, so return per channel is measured against the same cash.
- product hacking
- Product hacking is finding growth levers by changing the product, funnel or operation itself, guided by the company's own data, rather than only buying more traffic.
- storefront
- A storefront is the customer-facing part of an online store: the pages where visitors browse products, search and add to a cart.
- structured data (JSON-LD)
- Structured data in JSON-LD is machine-readable markup, using schema.org vocabulary, that states in a page what an organization, service, article or FAQ is.

Tell KINTO what is going on. The first conversation is to understand it, not to sell.
